Hi Anton, No, I'm not overly keen on MSN, either. However, given the option of having the plug pulled on this board with no warning (Monday morning meetings are always a good time for making decisions) it just seemed like a way of keeping in contact until we could sort something out. I'm all for a fully supported, independently hosted option but, like you say, its not so simple. Oh, and yes, I'm happy to chip in financially by way of subs, too. Rich

Guys, wait on trevor, give him some time - I am sure he will work out something from the options we have told him (and his own). I for one sent him a suggestion also to host the site on an account I have for personal US in a very large internet provider, but I am sure he will decide on what is best for the site. Regards all, and my respect and thanks for the suggestions - I am with you all on this, lets try to keep this board going. Trevor has done a great job, THANKS!!! Juan Miguel Venturello

1) WRT BMWSportTouring: Nice site that I read and post to periodically, but I'd prefer to maintain our separate RS identify if at all possible. 2) While I don't know anything about maintaining a web based board such as this, a quick search found myikonboard.com (I'm sure there a many similar web companies) that are in the business of hosting web sites and bulliten boards such as this one. Costs range from free and up depending on the support options and size. An advantage of myikonboard.com should be that the config software, database files, etc that make up a customized website should be directly transferrable to the new host with a minimum amount of new configuration work by the administrator. 3) It may be necessary to do something quickly, if temporarily, just to keep the site alive, even if there may be a better long term arrangement later. 4) If a rehosted board can not be free, monetary contributions should be voluntary, perhaps shared by a small group for the general benefit of everyone. There certainly seems to be no shortage of those (including myself) that would be willing to contribute. 5) Please avoild MSN !!! Once again, this is one of the sites I find myself reading daily. It is focused, informative, civilized and not to big. Well worth saving.

A couple of people have offered to help out, I'll follow up with them. I want to avoid Yahoo/MSN etc. If employees.org goes down suddenly before the announced deadline of May 31, make sure you look at www.krakar.co.uk/rrs/rrs.html regularly and I'll keep that up to date with the status. I'm sure we can solve this and be up and running somewhere else within a week or so.

This is the only board worth its salt as far as our bikes are concerned, we need to keep it going. Hopefully all previous info will transfer to the new host.

I have been reading the posts on this site for some time and finally registered today so I can post. I have found a lot of good information here and like the others would gladly contribute $ to keep it going, if necessary.

I have a web site hosted by ipowerweb.com , for about 9.00 USD per month I have 400mb of space, the abilty to host discussion boards etc. I can temporarily host this board if you like, with a little creativity we could just get another domain registration or something and host the board there. See: http://colevalley.net/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2 that I installed yesterday. Let me know, and I will set you up to get it going over there. Some small contribtions from the guys might help if the bandwidth requirements are excessive. But let's see jim stinnett email me at jimstinnett@sbcglobal.net

Jim, Anton and one or two others have made constructive suggestions. Here's another: http://www.bikersoracle.com/ This is a site specifically for one-make/model clubs like this, so they have lots of experience of running the software, collecting (voluntary) donations etc. etc. Send your requirements by e-mail to: muppet@hondavfrclub.org

Anton, nice work on the URL! Side note, I will gladly chip in to help keep this board alive. Having been to the BMWSport-Touring site I have noted that they may be knowledgable, but some of them have an attitude that just isn't friendly.

This is a great site. I hope there is a solution. I'd chip in too! Hackers (not sidecarists) suck.

I love this site, and will miss it dearly if it fails to find a new home. If there is anything I can do to help I would be happy to do so. Please let us know in advance if possible, as to the location of it's replacement. I wish everyone the best and thank them for the wealth of knowledge that is passed here on a regular basis.

Update... I'm pursuing the suggestion of hosting on http://www.bikersoracle.com. They seem pretty helpful, and the hosting would be free but with donations solicited, so I'd hope that people who have said they're willing to cough up would do so. They're not sure yet if they can convert our current data - but IB219 is so old, I'll be a bit surprised if anyone can convert it - even the later versions of IB don't do it ! More as it happens...

That's IB219 "Beta" ;^D... Well, I always try to look on the bright side, so let's view this as an oportunity... Even if we have to start from scratch, we'll probably end up with some cool new features out of the deal... Good goin' Trevor...

Cool trevor, thanks! One suggestion: even if it is not possible to convert the current data, could you at least have it linked in as a static set of web pages, which we could search through? That way the wealth of info available would not be 'lost' (or at least send me a copy of the db!! ) Thanks for all, and I am sure to contribute if they are able to help.
