Seems we got quite a few of us scattered about
eastern & central PA and western NJ.
Any interest to meet? Join up for a ride?
Lunch?

Suggest  Saturday May 22 at:
http://www.goldenageair.org/
go to events calendar, & admission is cheap $5.00

A pic from last year

FYI, located about half way between Harrisburg & Allentown off RT 78. But many rural roads abound that would get you here.

Reply here or PM me.

Great idea - was thinking of suggesting it myself.

If anyone's interested, I will be leading a group from our local BMW club (Skylands BMW Riders) out to the Antique MC Assn. National meet in Oley, PA, next Saturday (4/24).  We're leaving from Touch of Class BMW in Phillipsburg, NJ, at 9:00AM.  We could either meet at ToC and ride out together, if it's convenient, or just arrange a time to meet in Oley.

I'm guessing it's a little late to get anyone else to go up to the Albany Institue next weekend for the Motorcycles Thru Time exhibit?

Another possibility sooner than you think..

Millville to host largest airshow in the Delaware Valley in 2004

USAF 'Thunderbirds' will headline Millville 'Wheels & Wings' Airshow 2004

MILLVILLE, NJ: The Millville Army Air Field Museum (MAAFM), in conjunction
with David Schultz Airshows, LLC, is proud to announce that the United
States Air
Force THUNDERBIRDS Flight Demonstration Team will headline the 12th annual
'Wheels & Wings' Millville Airshow on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2,
2004, from 9am to 5pm . This will be the second time that the prestigious
U.S. Air Force jet demonstration team will perform at Millville Airport!

The USAF THUNDERBIRDS consist of six air combat F-16 'Fighting Falcon' jets,
flown by some of America's finest pilots, and are coming to the Millville
Airshow from their headquarters at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Millville Airshow 2004 will be the largest airshow in the Delaware Valley in
2004 as well the first airshow of the season in the Philadelphia/Atlantic
City area. In addition, Millville's Wheels & Wings Airshow 2004 will be the
first known event in the Philadelphia area to sport two jet powered vehicles
at the same time - the Air Force Reserve 'Above & Beyond' Jet Car which
reaches speeds of 400mph, and the world's fastest jet truck - the Hawaiian
Jet Fire Truck.

The impressive list of performers slated for Millville Airshow 2004
includes: hometown favorites Split Image Aerobatic Team, the Air Force
Reserve 'Above & Beyond' Jet Car Show, Freefall Adventures Parachute Jumping
Demonstration, USAF F-15C Eagle Demonstration Team, Aeroshell Aerobatic
Team, Hawaiian Jet Fire Truck, Eric Beard's Russian Thunder YAK-54, US Coast
Guard Search & Rescue Demonstration, Military Flyby, World War II Aircraft,
and the Psychogang Extreme Motorcycle Club, among many others.

" The Millville Airshow continues to build on its years of successful
regional airshows," says Russell Davis, MAAFM president and airshow
director. "We are delighted to welcome back the USAF Thunderbirds and
pleased to offer such an extensive list of unique and exciting performers to
Southern New Jersey."

Dozens of vintage warbirds and high-powered modern aircraft, a multitude of
military aircraft and a huge display of classic and antique automobiles are
scheduled for the 12th anniversary airshow that benefits the Millville Army
Air Field Museum.

Millville is the only airshow in the region that features a major car show
in conjunction with the airshow. Hundreds of beautifully restored classic
and antique automobiles will be presented by the Garden State 50's Auto Club
of Southern New Jersey. It is the largest car show in southern New Jersey
and one of the top five in the whole Mid-Atlantic Region. Food and craft
vendors will also be on hand for the crowds.

A new feature has been added to the 2004 aviation event. An evening show
entitled Light the Night will take place on Friday evening, April 30, 2004.
This is the first-ever night airshow in the State of New Jersey.

" The Friday night show adds a new dimension to our airshow," boasts airshow
events director Donna Turner. "Light the Night will be a spectacular display
of evening
aerobatics and pyrotechnics culminating with a fantastic fireworks display!
We have a great lineup of performers that will surprise and entertain."

The Friday night Light the Night Show takes place from 6 to 9:30pm with an
admission charge of $5 per person collected at the gate.

" Millville has become one of the most sought after performance locations
for military and civilian performers," points out David Schultz of David
Schultz Airshows, LLC, airshow producers. "Having great community backing,
variety, and a solid foundation, the Wheels & Wings Airshow and Car Show is
now one of the premier airshows in the entire nation and is definitely now
considered to be "the" show in the Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic Region."

David Schultz Airshows, LLC, has more than 10 years of experience producing
military and civilian airshows worldwide and offers an extensive knowledge
of aviation. The Millville Airshow will be one of more than 40 events that
they will coordinate this season, taking them all over the world.

Major sponsors of Millville Airshow 2004 are Dallas Airmotive, Inc., the
Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), Big Sky Aviation, Lincoln Mercury,
and Millville Jet Center.

I'll be dropping off a plane from work for that airshow.
But I won't attend, too many people too far, boring roads.
Seen one lumpshavach (spl) you've seen em all!!

Grimes Airfield is a small grass field near Blue Mountain. It's
owned by a friend of mine who's a pilot for AA & his Dad.
(insert shamless plug for event here)
All the planes are old biplanes some are the only examples
left and flyable.
Most of the planes are in flying condition & the shops open
to look in & see restorations in progress.
Also some interesting planes fly in too.
It's a low key event. No big crowds, foods available,  good riding roads near by.

I will have to check with my events coordinator (wife)  If we are free that weekend that sounds like a fun event.  We really enjoyed the national at Rheinbeck a few years ago.  Getting to ride in a Stearman was a real treat.  Do you know if anyone there will be offering bi-plane rides?

May I offer my dittoes with Dan?

Dan, I'm just up the road from you. If you get the green light and I do, too. Would you be interested in riding up together?

Robert -

Great suggestion!  I'm definitely adding this to my riding calender.  I've wanted to ride up to Rhinebeck, but (for me) there always seems to be something else to do .

I'll bring this up with some riding buddies who have R-RSs also (as well as others).

Thanks to all who repliied so far. Seems there is some interest.
I'm not trying to drum up a group ride to the event (unless others choose so at there own doing) just a place to meet. And maybe a group ride from there.

As I mentioned before this is typically a low key event.

Let me know by PM or reply here.

Thanks again.

Bob

Grimes May 22nd still a go.
I have gotten replies from quite a few who are planning
to attend. Rough RS count is 7 with 2 on the fence.
Some are arriving 2 up. Also a couple RT riders saw post
and are making this a destination also.

Hours are from 10am to 5pm. Go to,

http://www.goldenageair.org/events.htm

Rain date is Sunday May 23rd.
Suggested arrival time for us to meet up there would be from
10-11am based on where we're coming from.  No formal
group ride is planned.
Thanks to those who responded, I know it will be nice to
place faces with the posts!!

Bob

Update on 5/21: Still a go. Am weather calls for

Sorry you guys missed it.  I almost turned around a few times myself coming out from central NJ, but I'm glad I didn't.  The weather turned out to be beautiful and the air show was fun.

Met Bob and his lovely wife Gail and had a nice visit before I headed north for the NEUROC rock crawling competition in Hazleton.  Now those guys are sick!  Did about 300 miles total, a few threatening clouds but no rain all day.

Next time...
